VINCENT KOMPANY says the explosive form of Carlos Tevez is due to him being loved as part of the Manchester City family.

The Argy showed his old club Manchester United exactly what they had lost with two goals and a man-of-the-match display in the Carling Cup semi-final at Eastlands on Tuesday.

Tevez felt United did not try hard enough to keep him when his two-year loan ended last summer. And City midfielder Kompany said: "We are like a family here.

"Carlos belongs to this family and feels part of it here. That works out well for him because we are all happy for him to do well. We've got a very, very good team spirit."
