Manchester city defender Vincent Kompany has backed Edin Dzeko to become a success at Manchester city. Fellow new boy Darren Bent overshadowed Dzeko for Villa on Saturday but Kompany has assured City fans that Dzeko will not be disheartened.

“Edin will not be affected by it," he told the Manchester Evening News. "It happens - strikers miss and defenders concede.”

Vincent Kompany, who also made the move to Eastlands from Germany in a £6m move from Hamburg, insists he can see Dzeko adjusting to the English game.
