Vincent Kompany has backed new signing David Silva to shine after he scored his first goal for Manchester City. The central defender singled out Silva as a potential key player for the club's European and Premier League campaigns this season.

"He's [Silva] an amazing player, and like every foreign player he needs a bit of time to settle in the Premier League," said Vincent Kompany. "But if you look at his quality, and we've seen a lot of it in training already, he's an amazing player, and there are going to be moments in the season when he's going to be very important for us."
