Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany insists the Blues’ mega-money approach is good for the British economy.
The Belgian international defender, who cost a relatively modest £6million when he joined City from Hamburg last year, believes the cash being lavished on the club by owner Sheikh Mansour is helping the country recover from the economic slump.
Not only are City doing football a favour by making the Premier League more competitive, Kompany claims the tax benefits for the nation are enormous.
Kompany said: “The more money that comes in, the more players earn, then the more tax we pay, which must be good for England’s economy.
